Without Your Help We Couldn’t Have Accomplished What We Did”

9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance

There is no way we can fully express in words how much we appreciate the support we received from Catholic Charities this year, both for the overall 9/11 Day Observance, and for the 9/11 Day Meal Pack in NYC.

Our 2016 event at Basketball City was wonderful, but this year's project, at the Intrepid, was truly unforgettable. It was the best service project we've ever organized.

The NYSE Bell Ceremony was very meaningful, and we want to thank the Monsignor for participating as your representative, as well as for his inspiring blessings.

Without your help and participation, we simply couldn't have accomplished what we all did together on Monday.

We hope everyone who participated from Catholic Charities enjoyed the event, and came away feeling they made a real difference in tribute on 9/11 (which they all did!).

We also wanted to quickly share a few numbers from the project itself.

Over the course of the day, we packed an incredible 589,536 meals, significantly exceeding our goal of 550,000. Here's how they are now being distributed by our partners at U.S. Hunger, City Harvest and Food Bank of New York:

  • 32,000  -  Florida
  • 80,000  -  Texas
  • 478,000 - NYC (including the meals Catholic Charities accepted)

Altogether nearly 3,000 volunteers participated, including a large contingent of military veterans thanks to Wounded Warrior Project and Mission Continues. We are still tabulating the exact volunteer totals, including your team members, which should be ready to share early next week.

Once again, thank you for everything!

We are already talking about next year. We welcome your ideas to help us continually improve, and look forward to including Catholic Charities again.

Catholic Charities is responding to the needs of our neighbors during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
