School Supplies or Food? No Child Should Face This Choice

Find Out How You Can Help

During a time that should be focused on the joy of learning, many hardworking parents are forced to make impossible choices.

Far too many hard-working parents right here in New York City have to make impossible choices: let their children go without school essentials or risk falling behind on basic needs like housing and food. They’re forced to stretch their already limited budgets to cover educational expenses, not to mention the many other needs for their kids, like childcare and extracurricular activities.

There are many expenses that come with attending public school — like school supplies, books, activity fees and uniforms. On average, a public school parent pays $978 per child each school year. I hope you’ll make a special back-to-school gift today to help us support them and others in need now and all throughout the year.

At Catholic Charities, we believe that children are the future. That’s why we work all year long to ensure children and families in our communities have the support they need to thrive. We provide youth programs and sports, adoption services, afterschool programs, daycare programs and crisis intervention centers — not to mention a host of other services that address almost every basic need.

But we cannot provide these vital services without you. Your support helps put food on the table, keep roofs overhead and provide safe places for children while parents are hard at work.

 GIVE NOW

On behalf of children and families in need across our communities, thank you for your compassion. Your gift now will help us support our neighbors during a most critical time of need.

With gratitude,

Msgr. Kevin Sullivan

Executive Director

P.S. Please give a special back-to-school gift today to help reach all children and families in our community. Thank you.
