Prayers for Victims of Las Vegas Tragedy

Here at Catholic Charities we extend our hearts and prayers to the nearly 60 people killed, more than 500 wounded and scores of friends and relatives left reeling from  a lone gunman’s mass shooting last night at a Las Vegas music festival.

Tragedies have been crashing our shores like ocean waves on a stormy night. First it was natural disasters: Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria tore through Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, Mexico and islands throughout the Caribbean during the past few weeks. Now it is human failings:  last week, a teen stabbing fellow teens at his Bronx high school; last night, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Strengthening Families & Resolving Crises

Families confronted by a crisis often feel helpless. Catholic Charities provides accurate and timely information and referrals, and will help advocate for the services required by a family. Catholic Charities crisis experts help individuals and families plan long-term solutions to immediate problems through counseling and financial assistance.

Here, at Catholic Charities, we are mobilizing to make a difference.  We are supporting Catholic Charities USA as they help Texas rebuild.  We are helping direct support and funds to Puerto Rico.  We are supporting children in underserved communities in the Bronx.

Where help and hope are needed Catholic Charities people and programs are at the center.  This unavoidably means risk and opportunity.  It means genuine sadness and hurt when tragedies strike.

Monsignor Kevin Sullivan,

But we recognize there are no easy answers. And we recognize that only together can we overcome recent heartbreaks to rebuild lives.

Join with us to provide help and create hope.

Volunteer. Pray. Together we will make a difference.
