TCS NYC Marathon Tips and Tricks

Wilma Antonio

What makes a 50-year-old dentist with 3 kids train-- for the first time ever -- to run the TCS NYC Marathon?

Find out now in this week’s Tips & Tricks where our Team Catholic Charities runners share their inspiration for their marathon sprint on the Big Day, Sunday, November 6, 2016.

By Wilma Antonio

I am a dentist, work in NYC and this year is a turning point for me as I turned 50 last month. I wanted to do something significant and for the last 10 years I have been telling my husband, Eddie, that I would like to run the New York City Marathon. I told myself before I reach my half centennial; I'll make it a point to do.

I am training by progressively running everyday to increase my stamina and I signed up for other marathons and class training offered by New York City Road runners.

I have been blessed to have a wonderful husband and 3 healthy beautiful children, Ashley, 17, Skyler, 14 and Avril, 10. I’ve also been blessed with a successful career. I would like to share my blessings by contributing to Team Catholic Charities. This is something I've always wanted to do to complete my purpose.

Hey, maybe running a marathon is not your purpose.

But there are still great ways to participate and pitch in.
