Catholic Charities Staff and Volunteers Kick-off St. Nicholas Project in Westchester

Donning Catholic Charities t-shirts and shopping carts instead of red capes and sleighs, volunteers and Catholic Charities staff clutched wish lists from those in need as they raced down Kmart aisles in White Plains this past Saturday, December 5th to kick off St. Nicholas Shopping Day.

Many say there is no better way to kick off the holiday. And like Santa’s elves, it all comes down to team work.

  • Those we serve work with our staff to write a holiday list filled with their families specific needs such as blanket, sweater and winter coat sizes.
  • Donors give funds to cover the costs.
  • Volunteers and staff, armed with these lists, pick out the perfect choices so each family can have what they need under their Christmas tree.

Sound great and sorry you missed it?

Join us this Saturday, December 12, for our annual Shopping Day at Kmart in NYC’s Astor Place.

All shopped out but still want to join the fun? Support our St. Nicholas Project now.

Thanks to support from volunteers like you, Catholic Charities St. Nicholas Project provides nearly 4,000 New Yorkers in need with coats, hats, sweaters, blankets and more every Christmas along with vital social services all year long.

Catholic Charities is responding to the needs of our neighbors during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
