Provides Key Endorsement and Funds for Catholic Charities Immigration Services
The New York Bar Foundation handed a big endorsement today – along with a $5,000 check – to Catholic Charities to undergird services we provide immigrants and refugees living in the lower Hudson Valley.
Need there is surprisingly high while services for immigrants have been disappointingly low. For example, nearly 1 in 10 Ulster County residents are foreign born. And more than 1 in 5 Rockland County residents are foreign born!
This key funding will help Catholic Charities
- Continue to provide legal presentations to impoverished immigrants
- Share developments in immigration law and policies including the President's proposed Executive Action programs
- Educate those who are undocumented about paths to lawful immigration status
- Decrease reliance on unscrupulous "immigration consultants" who take advantage of people's fears
- Provide immigration legal services in underserved areas
Are you or someone you know a New American looking for help?
Catholic Charities immigration and refugee services are here for you.
The New York Bar Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the New York State Bar Association.
