Match Grant Case Manager

Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Refugee Resettlement, the Match Grant Case Manager will screen applicants, complete enrollment process, provide orientation; conduct comprehensive casework for six months to ensure job readiness and placement. Case Manager may also work on Reception & Placement refugee program as needed 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Assess eligibility of refugees, asylees, entrants/parolees, Special Immigrant Visa holders from Afghanistan and Iraq, and certified survivors of human trafficking for enrollment in appropriate resettlement program. 
  • Complete intake process with client in accordance with program requirements. 
  • Assess social service and immigration referral needs of clients including referrals to ESOL classes, immigration documentation, SNAP benefits, Social Security, and Refugee Medical Assistance, Medicaid, etc. 
  • Confer and coordinate with Resettlement staff on all matters related to client’s employment plan. 
  • Ensure all Match Grant requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner especially with regard to accurate documentation of volunteer participation in each case. 
  • Advocate for and with client regarding issues of benefits acquisition, employment, immigration documents, and intervene as necessary. 
  • Maintain program roster and report statistical data as required. 
  • Maintain and update case notes in hard file and electronic records in both Outcomes and MRIS throughout the six-month service period. 
  • Complete case write-up in online and paper file and write reports up to case closure. 
  • Regularly review case files to ensure compliance. 
  • Participate in planning and developing outreach resources and materials. 
  • Conduct outreach as necessary. Occasionally attend local, state, and national meetings or conferences. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs. 

Working conditions and physical demands required

The demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

  • Travel for home visits, outreach and/or escorting clients at least 60% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions. 
  • Assess and work in varied home environmental conditions, possibly including vermin/bedbugs. 
  • Traverse neighborhoods that may require a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings. 
  • Work with clients who require consistent and comprehensive support, some under potentially stressful conditions. 
  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer approximately 40% of the time. 
  • Frequently sit for long periods attending meetings. 

Qualifications 

Education and/or experience required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience. 
  • Prior social services casework and administrative experience 

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required: 

  •  Highly motivated, proactive person with tremendous attention to detail. 
  •  Strong organizational and analytical skills. 
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  •  Ability to prioritize and handle multiple complex tasks. 
  •  Strong computer skills. 
  •  Bilingual ability in a language commonly used by refugee populations. These include, but are not limited to: Spanish, French, Arabic, Haitian-Creole, or Chinese.
