Development Associate

Supervisory Responsibilities: No

Summary: The Development Associate assists the Office of Institutional Advancement/Development staff in all aspects of current and future development efforts and coordination, including but not limited to the specific responsibilities listed below. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  1. Coordinate and supervise special events as needed - solicitation, record keeping, drafting of letters/correspondence, logistics, etc. 
  2. Assist in the management of consultants as necessary. 
  3. Assist in the development and expansion of membership, event management, direct mail and overall supervision of development operations. 
  4. Create, review and supervise drafting acknowledgement letters. 
  5. Identify and research prospective donors and/or members. 
  6. Provide regular reports for current and future development efforts. 
  7. Participate in all development meetings as deemed appropriate by the Director. 
  8. Assist in the coordination of development activities/events with the Archdiocesan Office of Development. 
  9. Assist in the maintenance of donor records in coordination with the Donor Data Center. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position. Due to nature of departmental work/events, some nights or weekends may be required.

  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station and use a computer at least 60% of the time. 
  • Remain in a stationary position at events, fundraisers etc. 
  • Move and transport documents, objects, and other event materials. 
  • Engage with the public in social environments. 
  • Work under potentially stressful conditions such as deadlines and project demands. 


Education and/or experience required

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • Two (2) years minimum experience in administrative functions 
  •  One–three years’ development/fundraising experience. 

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required: 

  • Computer literate: working knowledge and experience with the latest version of Windows, Word, Excel and Raiser’s Edge database. *Must pass “Prove-It” SKILLS TEST for Word and Excel. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
