The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting all aspects of marketing/communications efforts for the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. He/She will help with daily administrative tasks as well as supporting the marketing needs for producing web content, social media, and email. This person will receive hands-on experience and training needed to plan and execute marketing strategies. This position is a combination of both administrative (40%) and marketing/communciations support (60%) for the department. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will report to the Director of Communications and Marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Office Management

  •  Maintain office supplies by: checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating requirements,
  • placing, and expediting orders, verifying receipt, stocking items, and delivering supplies to work
  • stations.
  • Keep promotional materials ready by coordinating requirements with requestor, designers,
  • inventory stock, placing orders and verifying receipt.
  • Support team during board meetings and in other tasks as they come in
  • Booking conference rooms for team meetings.


  • Work with Director of Marketing to manage the project and budget management process from start
  • to finish. This includes working with the marketing team project leads to create, input and track all
  • Project Sheets, Purchase Orders, approve and corroborate all Invoices against approved Purchase Orders.

Social Media, Digital Marketing & Web Production

  • Assist in creating and posting engaging content for social media, blog posts, email blasts, and other
  • marketing materials.
  • Support the Social Media Specialist with NYC Marathon Event.
  • Provide support in minor web content updates (update online events calendar, posting news articles
  • and job description pages etc
  • Help build and send emails, test and copy-edit emails to ensure quality
  • Update website content through our web Content Management Systems.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday.
Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs.

successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Remain in a stationary position at a work station or in meetings, using the computer approximately 70% of the time.
  • Work in an office environment; exposure to outside weather conditions minimal unless participating in, or traveling to, outdoor marketing event.

Education and/or experience required:
Bachelor’s degree required with 2-4 yrs experience in Communications or Marketing in a non-profit agency preferred not required.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Web and Social media savvy
  • Practical knowledge in HTML and CSS for Content Management Systems and email.
  • Experience working with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) preferred.
